I'm typing this fast. Here's my set up: 75mm tb, forged 327 shortblock(flat top pistons) with sportsman block, 42lb injectors, pro-m mass air, custom chip, 1 3/4 in longtubes with o/r x and magnaflows, 3.73s, Performer RPM intake, Ed Curtis custom grind, etc etc(probably forgetting some stuff)... and a blower someday.
My buddy thinks the 185's are too big. I think it's a debatable issue, but they will be fine. What do you think?

AFR 165cc would be too small IMHO. 185 with some mild port work would be nice on that combo. I will be running the 185 on my 331 once i get the things ordered, but i will be running a single turbo on it. I would think 42lb injectors would be to big for a N/A combo unless your pushing over 400Rwhp. Just my .02

No porting for now. These will be out of the box. But thanks for somewhat supporting my idea. Yea, I've heard of guys running the 205's on 347s and loving it. I'm set on the 185's, I just want everybody to chime in and say my setup is just fine. And hell, if they're too small(which I don't think they are), it'll be a torquey beast! [Cool]

And as far as the 42lb injectors being too big... I was thinking the same damn thing. I emailed Ed about the cam and in his reply he suggested 42# injectors. I thought maybe he meant to type 24, but those would sound too small for me. Anyway, I emailed him back to clarify that I would need 42's(before I go and sell my 30's and order a set of 42's) and I'm still waiting for his reply.

Thanks for the input. Keep'em coming!

I think 185's would be damn good for that engine. But me personally, I run a set of AFR 205's on my 347. [patriot]

I like my 185's on my little blown 306. the 185's and 42# injectors will be fine. if don't plan on a huge amount of power, you'll have enough injector with the 42's for later.

Definately go with the 185's.
Even on a 306 the 185's kick ass. No real loss in low-end with the proper setup.

Got an email from Ed Curtis about the 42's. He says:
"The top 400 RWHP Pure Street guys are switching from 30's to 42's with good success... You're in the same zone as they are..." [Big Grin]

you're not going to be tuned as well as "The top 400 RWHP Pure Street guys", that is way too much fuel for that combo. Purple Notch is running AFR 185's with a custom grind and TFS intake on a 331 bottom end and he's having a problem with too much fuel on 36's. Unless you put the blower on those 42's won't do you a damn bit of good [patriot]

That's why you get a custom chip to control the pulse width! What's the rest of Purple Notch's setup? Cam specs, and from where?

Yup...a custom chip will take care of this. Get the 42's, you won't be sorry. Just get a good tune done.

Go with the 185's. You will be much happier with those over the 165s. Your 327 will scream. I did the calculation for injector size. I figure your setup should make roughly 450 crankhp. I then multiplied that by a guestimated .57 bsfc. Divided that product by 7.2 (# of injectors times a .90 duty cycle), and i got 35.6. Round up to the next injector size and they are 42 pounders. Go with those.

Im lookin into a single turbo myself.. What setup you plan on goin with.. Im thinkin of pushin a good 12-13 psi..out of the HP performance kit.. Im Not sure if i should go with the T-66 or upgrade to the T-72..Any kits you lookin at right now? Would like as much info as i can get before i get the Kit. Thanx.. Sorry for hijacking your thread. [Wink]

As for injector size, I trust Ed's judgement and will be going with 42's. I can't wait to get this sucker done and on the road.

....now where to find a set of whistle tips that won't cost me any power...

With 12-13psi you're looking at gaining 250+RWHP. For that kind of airflow I'd go with the T-72. Let me know what cam you have now (or plan on running with the Turbo) & I'll let you know if it's right for the setup or not.
I've got a Turbo cam sitting on the shelf...it'll work best in a 306 with AFR heads & a single turbo. With a 331, it'll peak a little low IMO (~5300-5400rpm).

Yeah, shot me the specs. Looks pretty healthy if that lift is with 1.6's.

Way too big for a street-driven turbo car.
When you're ready for the turbo, contact me & I'll set you up with a good turbo cam. Hell...the F303 is an easy choice. If you run accross one for a good price, grab it. Or, if you want you can go custom....but I don't think you'll be needing every last drop of power out of the combo. 12lbs of turbo boost, the F303, & the motor you have now & you'll be running over 130mph in the 1/4.
