my car is missing really bad dont know what it is.i did a full tune up and it still has a miss.sometimes the car idles fine when its cold even when its hot.at idle my motor shakes alot and my vacume guage gose from 18 down to 16 when it starts to miss, but when its not missing vacume is at 18.my friend lowerd my timing from 13 to 10 stock and he said my timing was jumping.fuel presure is good but the needle shakes when its missing.car runs good at full throttle but sometimes it hesitates.could it be a bad distributor?

clean your 10 pins those two salt and pepper shakers behind the upper intake, thats how i fixed my car. Get some denatured(sp?) alcohol and some q-tips and clean out each one of the connections and then put some silcon in there and connect it back up. well it fixed my weird idle. If that doesn't fix it then i don't know what it could be. Maybe more people will have some insight for you besides just me.
What my idle would do is it would start up nice and then after about 1 or 2 minutes the vacuum would drop from 15 to 8 and it would run like it was missing hella badly. Sometimes it would hesitate but when driving it, it would act normal until i woould come to a stop and then it would act like its missing again

oh also what i did was reset the idle i unhooked the battery and the idle bypass valve (i think thats what its called) its the skinny thing on the side of your throttle area in the front of it. i connected the battery back up after 10 minutes but not the valve and then started the car it'll run really crappy but adjust your idle while its running like that and then turn off the car and reconnect the valve.

Just my 2 cents. Sometimes a worn distributor shaft will cause the timing to jump around...the timing jumping will affect idle as well as cause the vaccum to fluctuate.

Hey, I know this post is like 4 years old, but i'm curious about what did PHAT50 do to correct the intermediate miss and vacuum fuculation during idle any cruise as I am expireancing the same problems with my 5.0 and I've replaced just about everything including a new distrubutor. So ,Phat50 what happened???or does anyone on here know? [ September 28, 2007, 09:27 PM: Message edited by: street_illegal_stang ]
