my friends car has a brand new 302 that runs great and he just installed the 3rd transmisson in it, the others weren't bad but they were all used and he thought they had problems. He just installed a brand new converter on it today and it still isn't running right. Here is the issue: Start the car cold runs fun shifts fine for about 2-3 minutes, then it acts like its in neutral and just revs up but doesn't go anywhere. He coasts to a stop and turns off the car and then just starts it again and everthing is fine again for a few blocks and then the same thing. All gears work, I don't know much about auto's but it seems wierd. Also the vauccum for the tranny is hooked to the intake manifold, he thought maybe vaccum could be a problem?! What could be causeing this??? Thanks

Sounds almost like the tranny is losing pump pressure and wont hold a gear.... Did it do this same problem with the other 2 trannys?

Where is he gettin these trannies? It sounds like they are crap. you should just have me rebuild him one. i can but HI Perf. clutch packs in it, and completly redo it, from the valve body up. then he would have nothing to worry about.
lemme know dude later

Yes, I am sure he has installed it right but who knows. The tranny is rebuilt by a shop and torque converter is brand new.
