I have a set of 3.73 in my garage, but i was wondering if i should go with something steeper like 3.90 or 4.10. Right now i have a stock tranny, but i will get a world class T-5 with a 2.95 first gear. thanks james

If you have the 3.73's in your garage, then pop them in. 3.90's or 4.10's will improve your 60 ft times at the track with sticky tires since you have a 2.95 first gear... so if it won't be a track slut, don't worry about it
ps- You'll need better springs if you're sticking that cam in with the stock heads.

3:73s are pretty damn good..for allaround...but if its for track use 4:10

thanks guys. I didnt mean to "turn on" the broken record. Just wanted to make sure i was matching my cam to my rear end. Crane recomends 3.08 or higher. My heads are stage 2 ported Holley Systemax 2 with 2.02 valves and new seals. Does anyone have this cam? how much HP? thank you james

What intake are you running? The Crane 2030/2031 cams are really designed for Ford castings which have very restrictive exhaust ports.

I would choose 3.73's!!....Your cam should be fine with the 3.73's but your heavy convertable with a 2.95 first gear could definately use a 3.73 or 3.90 gear..I think if you had an automatic and that cam you would definately need 3.73's..
I think gear ratio's are better suited for your total horse power and how/where you drive your car.. [ May 13, 2003, 01:39 AM: Message edited by: Black94 5.0 ]
