Is that the "nascar" motor or something? I'm 100% newbie with old mustangs but I saw something like that at knotts this year and it looked familiar.

It was supposed to be a NASCAR engine when it was produced. Ford needed to beat the Mopar 426 Hemi, so they built a hemi of their own. NASCAR decided that overhead cams should not be allowed, so it was outlawed. Ford then came up with the Boss 429 Hemi.

Yep, in the "old" days, that's the motor the Chevy guys didn't like to talk about.
With that motor and the A/FX Mustangs, Ford ruled supreme.

Yeah, I talked to that guy at the Danville 'Hot Summer Nights' car show. The engine looks very clean, very sweet, and sounds wicked with a nice whine from the cams' chain drive. He said it dyno'ed near 700hp.
