Well I have access to a ford 8.8 3:73 traction lock rear end out of a 91 explorer. Is it possible to put that axle into my 1970 mustang. If so what kind of mods am i looking at other than modifying my U-joint off my driveline to bolt up to the third member??
Any ideas on how i can do this would be greatly appreciated..

Are you looking to put the 8.8" rear end in your car or the axels?

I would be mostly concerned about shock-absorber brackets and how wide it is compared to you stock axle...It would be great to have 3.73's, but it would suck if you had to buy rims just to correct the offset of the axle...
Leaf springs can bolt up anywhere on the axle so they're really not a problem..
I suggest to start measuring
