What are the symptoms of a dropped valve? I over revved my car and now it sounds like it has a miss in it. It loss power almost like it was running on 7 cylinders. It still has power but not like it did. I can still drive it but it has a slight hesitation to it. I check the plugs and all were good except one. It was wet with oil. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i dont know about symtoms of a dropped valve, but i can tell you the results of a dropped valve are ugly! to say the least. usually the car will stop running and major breakage like hole in piston, gouged cylinder and combustion chamber for starters.

what else could it be. I have another set of heads. Will the change solve the problem?

if you dropped a valve new heads wont fix it because there is a hole in the cylinder but you didnt drop a valve or else the car would have made really bad sounds

Years ago I dropped a valve on a boss 351 at 7400 rpm. Sounded like a machine gun in the engine bay but I still dusted the chevy.
