My car is running rich!!...I have stock heads, cam, Edelbrock intake, exhaust and other basic bolt-ons....I'm running a 190lph pump, 24lb. injectors with a Pro-M 75mm bullit with an "optimizer" MAF adjuster..After I removed my smog pump now my car runs really rich..I tried to adjust my "optimizer" but it didnt help....

Do you think I need to purchase an adjustable fuel pressure regulator?, Are my 24lbs injectors a little too big for my current combo?..I'm guessing I have around 230rwhp..

I have a stock regulator reading 35psi at idle 40-42psi WOT...I have no vacuum leaks either..

Thanx-Rob

Yeah, I know the 24lb. injectors are a little too big, but the factory 93-95 Cobra have them and they run under 230rwhp stock..

Like I said, it was running ok before I pulled the smog pump....

Basically, if I put an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on, would that solve my problem or would it be a waste of money?... [Confused]

I think it would be a waste of money. I don't see how it would help you that much.

Yeah, but if you think about it, my computer was tuned for 19.lbs injectors from the factory and still thinks it has 19.lbs injectors because my Pro-M is "fooling it"....So it wouldnt really matter about the computer really as long as the MAF sensor is correctly calibrated...

I read in a 5.0 mag that they turned down the fuel pressure only to compensate for the 255.lph fuel pump...If that is true then I need to buy an adjustable regulator, but HOW is it true?...With a bigger fuel pump doenst the extra fuel just go back to the tank on a return style fuel system?.. [Confused]

what makes you think your car is running rich? did you get any codes? or are you just smelling more gassy exhaust? could it be because you no longer have the fresh air from the air injection going into your exhaust, causing it to smell more rich?

a fpr will probably help you out, and it's probably a good mod to have in there for future tuning too

I have an air fuel ratio gauge and it reads full green/rich at 1/2 open throttle...Its also bogs like it has 2.73's in it.....It also stings my eye's like crazy if I stand behind the car while its running..My Gas miledge is terrible too...

Yes, I know 24lbs. injectors are maybe too big for my current combo, but I was planning on getting new cylinder heads on it soon (about 2 years ago) [Frown] ..I'm not gonna waste my time and money to buy a set of used 19lbs injectors and a 19lbs calibrated MAF especially when I gained .3 tenth's with the Pro-M and 24lbs's!!!....(Sawson, feel free to argue how I got those .3 tenths) [Roll Eyes] ..

I guess the only way to find out if I need an adjustable regulator is to buy one and test it [Roll Eyes] ...I just hate spending money on shit I dont need, especially when it takes away from my other up-grades!!...

Whats the lowest I can run fuel pressure before I run into atimization problems?.....Anyone?...
