Is there any way to test if my mass ari sensor is working properly? i had a problem with only 235 rwhp and i went to the track and i was running 14's so i know i am down on power still even after the new xpipe. i was told that the cats were crushed and that i needed to replace the cats, but the cars still feel sluggish over 5000rpm. an friend posted my problem on corral.net and someone had a similar problem and said it was his MAF. But before i fork out more money I want to see if i can have a test done to see if it is the problem. also any ideas are appreciated.
thanks

The mass air meter is the #1 sensor on your car and is almost completely responsible for your air fuel ratio. The easiest way to test it is to quickly borrow one from another car and try it out. Its an easy swap.

i think the problem is the mass air, but according to the dyno i had done the air fuel was fine. is it posible that the mass air is just damaged from k&n filter oil or just a bad sensor? my question is can i still get a good air/fuel ratio with a bad mass air sensor or replace this one and get my power back? in a previous thread i was down about 40-50hp. [Confused]

If you had K&N oil on your MAF electronics, it would make your car run lean. Have you been able to scan/post your dyno graph yet? If your air fuel ratio is fine, it leaves two things:

A) plugged cats

B) EEC not advancing timing at WOT

yeah the dyno is in the gallery. I have a magnaflow xpipe with cats so it's not the cats. i got the x-pipe thinking that was going to fix the problem, but no luck. the MAF is stock, but a friend posted the problem on Corral and one guy had the same problem with the MAF. also i talk to Bill at apex and I may have over oiled the K&N filter and that has caused the problem. so i am still guessing but i want that HP I'm paying for it i should get it. know what i mean this sucks. how can i check the timing? I have no clue how to check or how to advnace the timing. thanks

Something is definately going wrong after 4700 RPM and its not the air fuel ratio. How do your plugs look? What about the wires?

the car runs fine otherwise. its just down on power, cleaned the MAF so i hope the power is back, but i can;t really tell. ( i think i over oiled my K&N filter) i need to get a Pro-M or C&L to replace the stock one. to be sure. I want to get a dyno test but i don't have the extra 100 bucks right now, especially if i have to by a MAF. To tell you the truth i don;t drive the car over 3000RPM's too much so i can;t really tell if it is still down on HP. I wish i had a dyno in my backyard.
