With a semi-wet cloth, use a cleaner degreaser like Fantastik or a Kragen any-brand degreaser. the cloth must be drenched and ringed-out with this stuff. Then wipe the grease out from the inside. I never heard that grease from the K&N filters can creep up into the mass air meter. Is this true? Maybe you are over-oiling the filters too much. I went through a stock MAF in one month after putting my K&N on and it totally got fried from the oil. This one's cool as long as I keep it clean.
