shawn? i wanted to ask you the same question but with gt40 irons f37e's stock springs and hardend exhaust vavles. n/a applications with f-303/1.7rr. what size push rods, and springs should i invest on? and who should i buy my timing chain from?central coast? is the f-303 a good choice for n/a??? and if it matters, i'm using a cartech upper (box type intake) match ported lower intake to the gt40 irons -Justin R. Thats a lot of duration and lift for stock heads. I think the .512 lift is with 1.6's so with 1.7's it would put it at .544. The 226* duration @ .05 is a lot, I shift at 6200 right now and I run the E303 (220*). You would have to eliminate the fuel cutoff for sure. I would leave the stock cam in, its not worth the effort and is a pretty good cam to use with the stock heads. I would just leave it in there and just put the 1.7's and be done with it untill a head swap.

I agree with StreetStang37. Leave the stock cam in there. Put that F cam and 1.7 rocker money towards the real restriction in a 5.O: The heads and intake (both, not one or the other!)

If you're using the pedistal mount 1.7's the stock pushrods will work great. Springs for N/A & F303 should be 110lb seat at the minimum. which means the TFS upgrade kit from Summit ($125) will be fine. The F will work pretty well N/A, but I think the B303 is a better fit. Both will pass smog. If you go with the F303, you'll be set for a blower/turbo later on. In which case you'll need heavier springs. Something like the Comp 978's at a minimum.

I know someone selling edelborcks for $600, and another set brand new for $700. Let me know if you are interested. Shoot me a pm.

Oh forgot to answer your question about the timing chain....
The FMS 9-position I've found to be very accurate & runs ~$75 from Summit. The chain will stretch ~2 degrees after a few hundred miles, so that should be accounted for when installing the cam. The Rollmaster Billet set is top of the line, will not stretch & has 9-positions for proper cam timing (like the FMS). It can be had for ~$90 from Ed Curtis.
