My bud just put 3.55 in his 40k mile 99GT and he had 3.27's. I have 2.73 or so (85mph in 2nd) w/133k miles on it and I am thinking about running his 3.27 for now in my 91GT. Will they work 99 in a 91 8.8"? I will be going to better axels and an eaton diff down the road but this would be almost free and it would let me check out the gearing. What are your thoughts?

an 8.8 ring and pinion is an 8.8 ring and pinion. You should feel a little bit but for the amount of money you are going to spend installing them I'd do it right the first time and get the gear ratio you want, not just the one that's availible.

Get the gears and install them. I put the 3.27s in my wife's hatch to give her a little boost until she gets her blower. The gears are perfect for a supercharger application. You only gain knowledge by doing upgrades

Go with the 327's. Compared to the 273's you will be happy.

*Better make sure you check and record the "back lash" from the 8.8" your getting the gears from....When you put used gears in you car, if they're not set up the same as they were, you will find abnormal wear patterns on the gears and the rear end will be very noisy when you're driving..

When I put my used gears in I didn't pay ANY attention the how they were when they came out of the other car. Just put them in CORRECTLY and you should have no noise or problems at all. Goodluck
