Hey All,

In the past some of you guys wanted to see my set up. Well I just had a few minutes to build a cheap little webiste. There you will find some pictures on the turbolocity.com kit installed on my car.

It is not much of a website, given the time I have to work on it but I serves its purpose, check it out:

Sweet!
Couple of questions...

What size turbo? 60MM?
Did you do the install yourself? If so, how was it?
Any dyno/tuning yet? Show these 4.6 blower boys what a mild turbo setup can do!

Hey Josh and 93 Pony,

I hope this answers your questions.

Impression:

The quality and customer service are top notch, from one to ten I give them a ten. All the issues I had are due to the car being a Saleen vehicle. Check them out at turbolocity.com

Installation:

The install took longer than I thought and the guys installing it charged way too much (in short on the install side I got ripped off). The installation was professionally done though there are some areas that could have been done with more care. For example when the battery was installed in the trunk, they did not do a good job, hence no picture until I fix that.

Feel of the car:

The car feels stock; until you get on it that you feel the turbo kick in. The car pulls strong even though it is running rich, full boost kicks in at about 3500 RPM. On long highway trips, when in cruise control my mileage when up 19~20 Mpg!!! I can’t say the same when I feel the need for speed.

Issues:

The car has been running rich due to a Saleen computer module problem. Right now I am waiting on a GT chip to replace the Saleen module and a Y-pipe fix. Brad at totalperormance.com has given nothing but top-notch customer service. Heck If I had another 5 gran I buy his turbo kit for my 94 Cobra. Enjoy the pictures, feel free to e-mail with any questions or comments at gluelogic@yahoo.com

Sweet, I didn't know there was a turbo 4.6 around here. Where are you from? How much boost are you pushing? Any dyno numbers?

Yea, I 2nd that question. Along with how long you think that saleen stock bottom end will hold out. I am not familiar with what saleen does to the bottom end, thought just upperend things.

Hey Chico Stang,

I don’t have any #’s or times, the car is still running with the Saleen computer and that is causing my car to run too rich . Saleen bumps the timing and runs richer, and with the turbo chip that skews things, as soon as I get this resolved I will dyno the car. I don’t feel safe driving the car around for too long until I know it is running right. As of today I have about 1200 miles on it since the turbo.

Ohh and the bottom end is stock, as my goal was to make the car somewhat fast high 12 low 13 second 1/4 mile car. I hope to keep it as authentic as possible aside form the turbo.

Eddie510,

Right now I need to address the tuning issue. I will let you know when I take it to the track.

St5150,

I am currently running 7 lb of boost, and no, no dyno numbers yet.

When the kit was dynoed, on a Roush here is what they came up with

See http://www.nothingbutperformance.com/96-02GT2vturbokit.asp

“After 5 months of research and development, the 2v turbo kit is finally finished with results that are even better than we had hoped. The test car made 31 dyno passes back to back during 93deg weather with only a fan on blowing on the intercooler and never got over 203 degrees on the coolant temp and 111 degrees on the ACT at the throttle body. The car had the driveability of a stock Mustang and was perfectly safe on the A/F. We managed to get 434 horse and 547 torque at the wheels using 92 octane fuel and 8psi. To top it off, the car only had a safe 12 degrees of timing and was on a bone stock engine with 2.25" side pipe mufflers. We did detune the car from there to the dyno sheet below for safety. This kit is also upgradeable to as large as a T76 turbo as well as many other options. Please feel free to call us if you have any questions. “

Let me know if you have any further questions.

You should talk to www.racesystems.com about getting it locally tuned right. He has experience in dealing with Saleen EEC's.

Hey Shade-Tree,

Humm, Yeah it does look like it in one of the pictures, but that from some tar like silicon stuff that dripped on to the turbo jacket from the top oil line. When I took off the jacket it smeared the turbo housing. You scared me... I almost ran out side to take a look.
