for 289 k-code motors....

The casting numbers will be C3OE-B, C4OE-B or C5AE-E, The first two have 5 bolt bellhousings and the last a 6 bolt. Engine block casting codes are also different, harmonic balancer is thicker, almost 3 times as thick. The rest could be a straight bolt on, such as the solid lifters and such, Tri-Y headers a popular upgrade, and the intake/carb and alternator pulley set up.

As far as value goes, Id check Hemmings. I think a correct k-code long blocks (k-code heads have specific casting numbers) which need rebuild go for about 2500. Just my guess. I almost bought one a few years back.

If you want to know if the car originaly had a C or K code motor, check the VIN. The fifth digit designates the motor.
