I have an 89 GT with 4.10's and a T5, obviously my speedo was off and it was real jerky, so I finally replaced the speedo gear into the tranny, well it's now more right on but still jerks real bad, how do I fix this???

How do I find out if my speedo cluster is bad? Maybe it got messed up from not having the right gear in it, so that damaged it? Well thanks for the advice, who fixed yours?

if your cable is good and gear is good its gotta be the speedometer. considering your cars age id almost garentee its toast. i had a place called speedometer electric here in town verify my problem then i went searching for one and finally found one at a place in arizona.remember its not a lexas these are cheap cars and this stuff goes bad over time.maybe yours can be rebuilt,i was told mine could not.mine said certified calibration on it but when i looked at the factory replacement it looked identical. anyways i poped it in about 45 min and no more smacking the dash.
