I've got a few questions. Well, the car is finally put together and I want to run her sometime soon (within roughly a month or so) and need to know where I can find what I need to do in order to pass tech!

1. I know I need a big ass helmet (I better run at least in the 13's god damnit) for my huge noggin. Any suggestions? My head is REALLY big [Big Grin]

2. Basically I have H/C/I, full exhuast (with mufflers), 3.73's.

What else besides a helmet do I need? i KNOW I wont run even close to 11's so I dont need a cage...anything else? I would really hate to get all the way to sears point/sac to get turned around [Mad]

thanks

driveshaft loop is usually just required based on the tire choice, IIRC, just going off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure a 20 second station wagon on slicks needs a D.S. loop.

"cheater" slicks with DOT numbers do not require the drive shaft loop. At least as far as I have ever experienced.

Okay, translation:

12.99 or faster- drive shaft loop required on any tires.

13.99 or faster on non street tires requires a drive shaft loop.

The loop is $25. When you call summit, ask which one is cheaper, the FMS one or the Lakewood one. Exact same loop in a different box, but one is cheaper. I forget which.

Here are some pictures of one installed:

At the end, relax about the loop! Its not a heavily inforced rule! Wear a helmet, make sure you have radiator over flow catch can, a sercured battery and no blatant fluid leaks and you'll be fine.

They will NOT enforce any rule about the loop unless you are:

1: running 11.99 or faster

or

2: running real slicks (no DOT #'s)

No one told him what it does, so I'll jump in here. If you bust the U-joints on the driveshaft, it prevents your car from turning into a catapault. [Smile] If the driveshaft hits the ground and is spinning, its gonna flip the car around like a ragdoll.

Fast, Cheap or Reliable. Pick two and live with it.
