At lower RPMs, the control valve is closed and doesn't allow gases into the combustion chamber. At higher RPMs the control valve opens and these gases are drawn into the combustion chamber. <br /><br />Sounds like your valve isn't opening <img border="0" alt="[patriot]" title="" src="graemlins/patriot.gif" /> <br /><br />I haven't messed with this stuff on 4.6's much, but it sounds like a sensor is either bad or unplugged. Again, I don't know the 4.6L smog system, so I can't tell you where they stuck it under the good. I'd start with the charcol canister.
