I have a Dss built 331 and was thinking about going with some NX. My question is will the DSS "strengthend" forged steel crankshaft be able to withstand a pretty decent sized hit? What if I was to get a progressive controller and increse the hit "gently" over, say, over 500 RPMs, rather than one big hit - Would this be easier on the engine, including the cranshaft? This is a daily driver and reliability is an issue.
Any input would be great. {KB}

Get the cam yet? I think you'll have plenty of power with a TNT 100 shot.

Nope, nope. I'd estimate another week to 2 weeks, man Brain really knows his sh*t! I was on the phone with him for a good couple of hours, even was 45 min late to class. Do you know if his F-body broke the 9's in Stock Elminator?

Yes it ran high 9's. When he has the time, he loves to talk.
As far as your question, start small and work up. You'll get 10-11 mph from a NX 100 shot, and 15 ish from a 150. That's not enough?

Yea I'll definately work my way the HP levels...so even at this power level that 150 shot would give me a real 15 mphs? The reason why I ask this is because I was told that the faster you go, say, 10's... you would need more HP to get to the 9's as compared to what it took you to go from the 13's to 12's. I'm only using ET #'s as an example but according to this rule, as was told by this guy, it would apply to MPH also. That made sense to me so I accepted it. Lemme know if this making any sense to anyone...the firing order in my brain has been known to go up in cloud of smoke [ February 20, 2003, 09:22 PM: Message edited by: 93Snyper ]

That is definitely true. Maybe my brain was the one with smoke. Let me re-phrase then. That kit will make RWHP. Whatever that gives you then it gives you. I got near 15 mph on that kit with the 150 jets. That was on the stock motor though. [ February 20, 2003, 09:29 PM: Message edited by: AaronC ]

I'll most likely keep a 100 shot, but I like to plan ahead for unforseen circumstances So lets assume that I plan on hitting a 200 shot with a safe tune...do you think i'll have any issues with the crank, like it splitting in half

Internals will probably be ok. The block will be the weak link.

No. Even the lowly (relative) Eagle crank will out-last the stock block.
