i have a b&m short shifter and it makes this stupid like rattling sound at high rpms...in every gear...i have heard this is normal and alot of stangs i have been in with those shofters or the tri-ax all seem to have the same problem...is it the tranmissision mounts or the motor mounts or something that cause that??

you might want to double-chect the bolts that attach the handle to the shift lever and the other bolts associated with the shifter installation.

good luck!

it could be rattling against the stops, try backing them off a little

thought that is was rattling against the stops too....so when it starts doing it i hold the stick against the stops with some pressure and it still does it.....it sounds like it is coming from underneather where that balls on the end of the shifter connects into the transmission itself....

my tri-ax added some noise, but not a lot.

fwiw, i've driven four 'stangs with b&m shifters (four 94-95's and an 01) and none of them made enough noise for me to remember it now, like eight months later.

As long as you've checked all the bolts, and they're tight, it's the transmission rattling. Does it do it in every forward gear?

Does it mean anything in particular if it rattles only in forward gears??

Mine rattles too but got a lot better with the Pro 5.0 shifter. I heard that the noise is common tranny noise because by upgrading to a solid short shifter you are removing the stock rubber noise deadening pieces?
