You could be running extremely lean. I h've had this happen when my fuel pump was dying.
I'd take care of all known problems first, like exhaust leaks, ect.

Common sense tighten both of them. You can hear it if you start the car and listen to it idle with the hood up. Put your ear down there.

I also reccomend running fuel injector cleaner through your car, one might be clogged.

Your car is running lean. Check the fuel pressure, Fuel filter. if you dont have a fuel pressure regulator then get one And while your at it, get a fuel guage.

Check your BBK regulator...I've seen BBK regulators go bad, they let fuel pass and go into the vacuum line to the intake...Just something to check...
Sounds more like bad timming or an EGR problem..

i had this exact problem....it was the gasket between the upper plenum/intake to the lower....also the hoses under the upper intake were begining to rot....which caused vaccum issues....pretty common with this cars....im guessing it might idle odd and go from 500 to 1000 rpms while your sitting....

Play with the fuel pressure a lil. try setting it at 39-40 off vacume. Check and make sure that you dont have any vacume leaks.
