The Bassani x-pipes that we carry are bolt-on and don't leak at all. I'm not sure I understand, though--you shouldn't weld an x-pipe in anyway.

i would love to meet the person who has a "welded on X pipe" cause that is absolutely retarded. You got your info from someone that doesn't know jack, if you bolt it on correctly you won't have any problems.

I have a catted Bassani on my 2001 Cobra and a catted Bassanni on my 92 5.0 with absolutely no leaks. Bassanni is a quality exhaust system and the fit is great. I don't believe leaks should be a problem, but you may need MIL eliminators even with the catted pipe. Muffler shops do sell "X" sections that can be welded in, but this would basically mean a custom built exhaust that will cost you as much as a bassani for a lower quality pipe that may have the "X" welded in the wrong area.

If you get a catted one it will be a little more restrictive and a little quieter but at the same time you will be able to pass smog .
If you go uncatted it will be more free flowing resulting in more horsepower but unfortunetley you will not be able to pass smog so every two years you would have to switch it out to pass smog which is very hard to do but is a pain whne the time comes around .
If you have the extra money go catted. Help us all breathe better.
Oh yeah and the answer to your other question about Bassani they are basically the biggest name exhaust company just like Nike for an example. They have great cats so if your going off road I wouldnt bother buying a Bassani. Go BBK I have never had any problems with any of there products.
