I am trying to get an aluminum driveshaft basically because I am getting small vibrations every once in a while in the back of my tranny. I can't always tell but sometimes it feels like its commin from the slip yoke end of the driveshaft and sometimes the differential end. When my car was converted to a T-5 everything was swapped over EXCEPT the driveshaft. Which is cool because now I can get a good one But that is where I am stuck. I heard FRPP aluminum driveshafts were made of cheap aluminum but where else can I get one?? 15 years of spinning has taken its tole also. I need a new one! I am stuck and any help would be MUCH apreciated.

hey, nick, ur in luck, u know maximum motorsports, the suspension company, they are located in SLO, i had a chat with the owner, one thing we talked about was drive shafts, from what he said was the frpp al shaft is strong enough but needs to be balanced before even being put on, an unbalanced driveshaft is bad, my sisters tahoe (u know, the black one), had a bad vibration, over a month or two it vibrated so much that the transfer case cracked, $2700 to have that fixed, balancing cost about $50 bucks and takes the shop a few hours, good luck

are they the only ones that sell aluminum driveshafts though? is there any other suspension company that makes them? I don't really want to spend $50 to get it balanced but if I really have to I will.

my aluminum FRPP driveshaft works fine, no problems. I have heard of other companys but they have clearance issues. You could always spend some cash and buy a carbon fiber one!

Man, I am boutta just buy the FRPP one and then have it measured and or balanced if needed. I just can't stand vibrations in my driveline because prolonged exposure to it will REALLY mess something up.

wait wait wait wait wait wait... wait... the FRPP AL driveshaft IS balanced from the factory - in fact most drivers install this part because of that (to reduce driveline vibes at high speeds). it's not "cheap" aluminum either, it's aluminum for a reason. i would rethink spending $300+ on a driveshaft unless you're racing pro (and if you have a T5, i don't think youre racing pro)
if you get a FRPP AL driveshaft and it vibrates, send it back

My driveline has vibrations, I have swapped Tranny's & several gear combos, still vibrates. I was told the Ford unit was pre-balanced & also told that it was causing my probs. I will let my shop guy re-balance & tell u all how it went next week!
