Earlier ones came with regular GT40's, others came with GT40P's:

they are generally speaking pretty much nabbed when they hit the junkyard, but you could get lucky.

easiest way to identify is to count the 'bars' on the fron, 3=GT-40, 4=GT-40P.

Next best? pop a valvecover and read the casting mark.

No problem. If you find another set at the bone yard, let me know. I'll pick up a set of GT40P heads for sure if the price is right [burnout]

What is the difference between e7's and Gt40p's?WHich is better?I was reading a post on corral and they were talking about e7's.

And another question the gt40p's came on the explorer.Did they come on any other vehicle? And what years to look for.

yeah i'll definetly look you up when i get all parts i need to do the swap.good looking out mike.
i think you have to buy special headers in order to make the gt40 p heads work on a fox body stang.
and there not cheap headers
excessive mototsports has shorty headers for the gt40p's at $275..thats why i was look more for gt40 irons. then theres always the smog issue. [Roll Eyes] you have to get thermactor air passage holes drilled in the heads in order to pass smog when the time comes.thats like a $120
at a machine shop..

The E7 heads are stock 5.O heads. You don't want E7's. GT40P heads came in 1997+ Ford explorers and Mercury Mountaineers. Check out the link I posted above for more detailed info.

mustangcam302 - The GT40P heads are a bit more efficient and when you compare the prices of the heads, you'll see there isn't much of a difference in cost.

BBK 1 5/8" long tubes are known to work with GT40P heads. Check out the link I posted above for more info on what headers work.
