Hey Mark,
Other things will go before getting any chance to test the limit of the crank. It should be good to about 500 RWHP or so. Most people just upgrade to the Cobra since their rebuilding anyways.

Thanks guys. The rods and pistons are my big concern. I was just trying to figure out if I needed to upgrade the crank also.

mark the stock gt crank can withstand a lot of power your only concern is rods, pistons, oil pump, unless your putting about 600-700 then step up to a cobra crank.

Eric I saw you at Walters Road and HWY12 it was after 1pm. Your car looked good.
Brian I was going to do the bottom end. But I changed my mind. I'm looking at doing a complete motor now.

the stock crank will hold about 500 or more hp. the rods will hold up to about 350 to 400 and thats pushing it.ford really built shitty rods when they did the 4.6's.i just got done building my motor and i went with manley h beam rods,je forged pistons, and a cobra steel crank and with that set i should be able to hold 750 hp with no problem, even though it will never see that much hp .also if u do the cobra crank u will have to machine the block, its say it is a dirrect replacement but u still would have to machine it.hopefully this helps u out if u have any ?'s give me a hollar. chris
