I have been thinking about swapping pi heads to my 97 GT. Can someone tell me what I will need to complete the swap? Also I would like someone's opinion about the heads I am buying. The heads are from a 99 and they have enlarged modmax valves and modmax springs as well as a stage 2 porting job, they will come with the stock 99 cams. The guy is selling them for about 500 bucks. It sounds a little funny because the heads themselves are worth that much without all of the porting and valve work. Any advice you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.

The 99+ are called PI heads because they are the "Power Improved" heads.

I don't actually know the guy, I saw the heads advertised in a parts add. It is a private party, not a business.

im not sure if they are the same ive heard of people taking the heads off a navigator and putting them on their 4.6, im not sure of their names on corral.net just go to the site go to the GT forum and go to search and type in pi heads for sale. OR you can PM juiced46 on there and ask him he knows the guys personally

The ported heads I was talking about are from a 2002 not 99, is there any difference in the way they bolt on? I heard something about the timing cover and or valve covers being different for the two years, would I have to get a different timing cover?

Windsor versus Romeo http://www.tccoa.com/articles/engine/piheads.html Use 2001 heads this way you can reuse your valve covers and will be able to bolt on Bullitt intake if you decide to. 99-2000 had different valve covers bolt pattern, oil neck on the passenger side and pressed on camshafts sprokets. As long as stamping on the heads says PI it doesn't matter what particular car model they are from. When I received mine they had 5.4 PI stamping on them.
