You're a brave soul!

Changing your 86 to a carburetor is not too hard but what about smog and the DMV?
Or it this an offroad car?

It shouldn't be too hard thought, hmmm...
New fuel pump, Carb, different air cleaner..
ignition different, AC was hooked to computer too.
That'll take some thinking. Probably some other incidentals too.

have fun!!

you don't need to change the fuel pump just get a good regulator, and an intake manifold and your set.

the car is only being driven to the track and back. and the motor is a 408, so smog isnt really a concern (thanks jason [Big Grin] ).
and im going to run a very quiet exhaust and use electric cut outs for the track.
and im keeping my stock motor [Big Grin]
thanks for the REAL replies fellas

if you have a 408, i'd say get rid of the stock pump. there are a billion to choose from, just pick up a summit, other than the pump all you need to finish the fuel system is a filter, a 7psi regulator and a carb.

"You will need a new fuel pump and pickup. Do NOT use the existing EFI pump. You can either use an electric low pressure pump designed for a carb (like the Holley red or blue pumps) or go with a mechanical fuel pump. In either case you must replace the fuel pickup on top of the gas tank with a purpose built pickup that does not include an in-tank pump. To use a mechanical fuel pump you must change the front timing cover on the engine to one that accepts a bolt-on fuel pump. You may also need a fuel pump eccentric to drive the pump. My '88 motor had one from the factory but I have heard of some roller motors that do not have them.".... efi to carb conversion
