Who is currently making cams for a 4.6 2v motor. I'm looking for n/a cams, not blower, or nitrous cams. Any help?

Well here, let me ask you for help also the proper way. I got a set of PI heads, I got a person who does good head porting, but I want to make a good combo to run 12's n/a on a 2v motor. What I am trying to accomplish. I plan go getting building:
2v motor PI heads stg 3 porting (to what specs, is where I need help) I want a good set of cams, some thing that will raise my power band up to 8g. (I plan on Road Racing this car alot more) I need help figuring out what rockers, and valves to use. I plan on throwing in a Cobra crank changing the Pistons, I wanna bore the block .030 over. And I am swapping in the SVO intake, (which I need to find a place that does good extrude honing.
So I need a little help with figuring out the exact combo and things I need, but am open to suggestions, but I would like reasoning behind why to choose certain things over others.
This is where I ask you guys for help. I plan on giving the heads to the guy to look at tommorrow, time is not a big rush, I have been sitting on the heads for almost 6 months. Money, as long as it doesn't get too insane. no prob. Any help?

go to www.modularpeformance.com they have alot of rebuild kits for the 4.6 forged pistsons and set to spec anywhere from .010-.030 bore and from flat top to 17cc dished pistons so if your staying N/A a flat top or small dished piston would work best. I could be wrong here but i dont think youre gonna get your rpms up to 8k MODMAX has springs and oversized valves check out their site lots of info there.

thanks, I heard stories of people being able to get Mod motors up in the 8-8.5g rpms. I am basically looking to build a high rev motor, that has it main HP in the 2500-possibly 8000 rpm. Not sure if it's possible but thats what I would like to be at.

ive heard of people getting 7500 maybe they can do 8gs but how safe would that be?? its probably just able to reach 8 hmm id love to see a 4.6 having a 8k redline. The cam spec will depend on if you want low end or high end its all about where you want your power band

I'm looking more in the higher RPM's. Lower would be great for drag, but I autocross the car occasionally, and am definatly looking to doing the biiger tracks like t-hill, sears, buttonwillow, and laguna. So higher rpms, would be beifitial.*

SHM sells an 8500 rpm shortblock or longblock it has billet rods
i run my cobra to 7500
<edit> i was wrong!
quote: 78500 COBRA SHORTBLOCK 800+HP/8800RPM2 $4,975 exchange1
This shortblock contains the same quality components as the 575 HP block with exceptions. Billet rods replace the forged units, offering greater RPM capability and our own stud girdle is installed to prevent main bearing cap walk. This is the same shortblock used in John Mehovitz's 850 HP Mustang drag car. *note, does not contain headstuds or gaskets

Crower makes billet 4.6 2-valve cams. For an extra $100 you can bet customs from them. They have a pretty nice selection of lobes. [ January 05, 2003, 04:06 PM: Message edited by: 93PONY ]

value add for this thread: I think the '99+ heads on a 96-98 2V shortblock bring your compression up to about 10:1, so you could go fairly aggressive on the cam and not pay as much a price in terms of streetability
and 8500 rpms sounds a little crazy to me, my $0.02
edit: serious question, how does the headswap/cam/porting of the stock intake/etc. compare HP and $$$ wise to selling your 2 valve longblock, and swapping in a 4-valve, quad cammer 4.6? [ January 05, 2003, 05:07 PM: Message edited by: shade-tree ]

For Cams... Modmax, $HM, or Crower make nice sets for the 4.6...
You are not going to get 8000rpm out of the 4.6 2V motor, a DOHC Cobra is a totally different story... I have never seen a SOHC GT rev over 7200rpm... There is really no need for it to... JMHO... [ January 05, 2003, 05:51 PM: Message edited by: Rev Happy ]

I wanna draw as much as possible from a 2v motor. Keeping it a GT.

When was the last time you heard of a N/A motor breaking the crank on a 4.6 or a blown one for that matter? Thats a waste of what, 809.74? Just trying to weed out money losses. [ January 05, 2003, 10:00 PM: Message edited by: 2000BlackGT ]

I just want the motor to be strong if I am going to be wasting the money on building it up.

Sup Mikey, well just to give you an idea of what I got for the new motor, which isn't much....
'00 PI heads Bullitt Intake 90mm '03 Cobra Maf set for 30# inj's The the basic bolt-on's
I need help figuring out what cams are best to run, and then what I need to do to my block to prep it, plus I want to bore it over .030 so I would like to go ahead and change pistons too. But should I get dished or flat? I might eventually throw some squeeze on it, so I want it to be able to handle it if I do.
