I've been working on my newly installed 92 efi system in my 84 convertible.
The smog Ref wants to see my computer talking to his scanner through the harness.
does anyone know why my computer won't talk to the scanner? It's a new ford harness but an old computer from a friend. It did have a chip put in it too. the chip is now gone but I'm sure they didn't really take the best care of the computer.
What do you all think?

Only '94+ EEC's are ODB-II and talked through the port. You need to hook up a break out box to the fox bodies to see what's going on.

I don't think OBD-II came out until '96 model year cars (all makes), meaning manufactured in '95 or later... ?

I dunno, they hooked up some sort of scanner to get a read out.
Also I have borrowed an "auto xray" scanner from a friend. I didn't complete the test last time I tried it. but perhaps with my new computer coming soon, i'll get the results I need.

attn shadow50...Maybe you should try the Ford dealer to check the numbers on your EEC IV and see what your computer goes to.....Or have them look up any fox-body computer(specify "mass air" or "5spd/auto") and see if they can match yours!....I guess it doesnt matter if you ordered a new EEC...Hope I could help. http://www.obdii.com/connector.html looks like it wasn't "fully comliant ODB-II", but it was ODB-II in '94. [ January 05, 2003, 01:27 PM: Message edited by: st5150 ]
