I need to upgrade to a bigger alternator, 120 is stock on the 87-93's right? I need to get the next one up (which is 140, or 160?) but i was told that doing that involves serious wiring on our cars? On the other hand, my alternators been through a lot and is 13 years old, should i just replace it with a newer 120? Any input is appreciated , thanks!

i have a 160 and yeah you have to do some wiring its not hard though my alternator wire is the same size as my battery one I heard high amp alternators don't last long and i will agree my alternator regulator is bad and my headlights flash and its really lame.

Yup, that's right, only 75 amps stock. Check out www.PA-Performance.com for their 130 amp upgrade kit. I'm thinking about doing this to my car too (Orig. alt. with many new electronic things=no good). Take a look at this too- http://fordmuscle.com/archives/2001/03/paperformance/index.shtml

i did the paperformance swap. its a really well put together kit. and there alts have lifetime warranty's. i wouldn't use there instructions though. if you wanted to peice it together yourself, you could. it might even come out to be alittle cheaper.
this swap can be done in less than an hour. if you need any help, just let me know.

I just did the simple AutoZone upgrade from the tech section of www.racesystems.com
No complicated wiring needed, and it cost me about $120 total. I do highly recomend a high wattage soldering iron though.
