I want the engine that they are putting into those supersnakes. I just have a few quick questions. First off does anyone know how much they cost? Second, how much power does it make without the blower? and third what would I need to do to my car for it to fit(95 gt)? Damn those new GT500's are tight

Taking a step back.... what is your goal?
If you want to say "I have an aluminum 427 under the hood", then you're on the right path.
If your goal is XXX HP, then there are much more cheaper and proven ways of achieving it.

i saw a build up of one on like hot rod tv or something without a blower and it only made like 500 or 600 hp and they said it was something like 50-60k. I'm thinking that 1000 hp blown engine is like 80k. Shelby isn't cheap.
if you're talking about something different than me then ignore this post. actually ignore it anyway because there is not one absolute fact in it.

is that the side-oiler 427 all aluminum SOHC 'cammer' 427? That's a collectors piece!
427 buildups (wrathofZ06 here did one) come in under 10k and I believe he would've been making ~ 700 HP or more with AFR 205's, big cam, big carb, big intake. That's with a beefy motorsport block and all the right forged internals.
You could 'cheap' a 427 E4TE casted production hyd-roller block complete (heads/longblock/carb/pan/headers) for probably about $6K and be in the 500 HP range and on the verge of danger but still a lot more durable than a 500 HP 302!

shade tree, are you talking 427 fe or 427 stroked small block?
the 427 i'm talking about is not the sohc 427... however they did use roller cam berrings on the camshaft.

Its a good idea but probably not very feasable to stick one of shelby's 427 side oiler copies in a 95 gt, tons of fab work would have to be done. Plus it wouldn't pass smog at all (the 427 side oiler is a 1960's engine). I think they are 30K + , you can make much more or equal power with much less money if you stick with a windsor or mod motor.

I'm talking about the Fe. I am not going for numbers, I just want the shelby 427 fe engine because it is the whole basis for the concept of my car that I am trying to build. I don't really care how much money it costs, I'm not looking to do this right away obviously. I'm just looking for a ball park figure here and want to know if it is definately possible that it could be swapped in with any amount of work neccessary. Thanks for the info. I looked into this engine before I bought my car. After all is said and done, you are looking between $15,000 to $20,000, depending on how crazy you get.

Ask questions if you have'em, anyone who thinks they're too cool, know's it all, or doesn't want to look stupid has more problems than you.

There isn't much left for us FE guys, but Dove makes an alum. block too. There is also supose to be a block from a company called Genises comming out soon. There is still lots of options if you are just looking to have that FE look. I am buying a cross-bolt kit for my 428 that give the block simalar strenght to a 427. This was Fords longest lasting production race engine so there is lots of old timers out there that can get you in the right direction.
