I've decided to go ahead and get the trickflows for christmas. I have a e-cam with 1.7 rockers. Will that clear the 2.02 valves in the heads? What would be the best intake for these heads? street heat, track heat, e-brock rpm

Trick flow street heat manifold, the track heat is for a bigger higher revving cam. Not sure on your clearence issues though.

Have you got notched pistons and/or differnt push rods?

I've got the Trick Flow twisted wedge heads with the Trick Flow street intake. They work good together but the car doesn't make as much power as I thought it would with them. I had to use the 1.6 roller rockers with my setup. I live in Antioch too.

I don't have the pistons notched at all. I know the e-cam will clear with 1.6 rockers....I'm wondering about the 1.7's though.

the e-cam should work since the stage1 is about 500/512 compared to the e-cams 498/498. Someone check my math...

duration of course is most critical, especially of the exhaust valve. the intake valve is always 'running away' and usually won't hit.

E-303 is a longer duration cam @ 0.05, IMHO, it could be close. Measure twice before you fire it up man!

I ran TW wedge heads, street intake, 1.6 rr, and a stage 1 TF cam and I had some clearance issues when I pulled the motor apart later. Car made great power but be sure you check all clearances.

moponys- What kind of power did you make? Remember, an AOD with a stall will "suck" up a lot more power when comparing dyno numbers to a T5 car.

BATTMAN- I'd go with the TFS stage 1 over the E cam

After getting a chip done by Byron, my numbers were roughly:

236.7 rwhp
238 rwtq

I thought the hp would have at least been around 260???

Battman - I have a green/tan top convert.

I was at Sac on 11/7 and the best time I could get was 14.39

IMHO, 50+ RWHP is hiding in your combo.

Was the cam installed correctly? Is there perhaps a valve hanging open? (improperly adjusted rockers).
Not trying to bag on you. I've been there myself. Good luck getting it squared away.

IMHO, run a compression test POST HASTE. A hanging valve will be obviousl.
(no compression = no power)

just as a reference
my stock HO longblock made ~235 RWHP (12.9s @ 105 @ 3030 lbs)

You're right, even with that fairly mild cam, you should still make at least 260 rwhp. Something is wrong for sure. What MPH did you run your 14.3 at? Does the car idle and drive fine?

It idles ok but the one thing it does is stall when I put it in gear. The guys at Mustang Ranch and Byron said it was because of my 2500 stall converter.

Don't worry, you can criticize all you want, it's okay with me. I can't work on my car myself and and have to rely on whoever's working on it at the time.

If there was 50 more horses in my combo, would the dyno test been able to find them?

I'll be getting a compression test done soon.

Can you post pictures of the dyno graph? Does the car eat a lot of oil? Has poor fuel economy? Something isnt' right with it for sure.

The car doesn't eat any oil and gas mileage I would have to say is ok at about 220 fwy miles per tank.

I can't post the graph because I don't have access to a scanner but I can say that the air/fuel ratio is a perfectly flat line. I'm guessing that's what it's suppose to look like.

Do you know of any good shops in the east bay that would be good for performance work?

I didn't notice the AOD. The AOD cars eat more power on the dyno. Also with a bigger stall, makes more sense.

I'm not trying to bag on your combo, just saying it seems a little low, 260 to the wheels sounds better.

I ran through my old motor and had some mis-adjusted rockers costing all manners of power. A quick compression test pointed out the problem.

I think you should be running 104+ mph at 3600#'s raceweight.

I was interested more in the HP curve. No doubt Byron gave you an ideal air fuel ratio when he tuned it.

Your missing HP may be a combonation of a few smaller things as well. Forexample, how well did that 70mm TB mate to your street heat intake? Also, who picked out your cam? I'm not a cam expert, but it may be mismatched for your combo.

The place I take it to in Concord (Stock to Performance) picked it out but I think they chose the wrong one. I read an article on the one I have Lunati 51014, and it said it's not good with automatics.

To bad this article came out a 1 year after I had it installed.

Well I'm hoping they do find something wrong with the compression test and that it's something not to expensive.

On a different note: How you guys recommend I launch with drag radials? I'll be getting a pair in a couple days.
