i did some work on my car this last week, and i raised up my valve covers so my 1.72 rocker arms would not hit the top of them anymore...really annoying i had dents all over the covers...anyways...my car is running stronger than ever!!! soo much power now...and my cam is hheeellllaa thumping now. but i have a question. i bough the car with a cam in it...but never found out which cam it was...i used a dial indicator and measured it. its lift is greater than a E303 but not quite at a b303...what cam do u all think it could be. when it idles....u can REALLLY!!!! hear the cam. i mean really...and ive noticed a greater smell in the exhaust fumes. what u all think? im thinking its a B303 but is there something else?

i ahve the b and the e turned around...i looked at the specs again..i must have looked at a funky webpage cause my lift is greater than both those of the e303 and b303.. the lift is .512" // .512" any guesses or places i can look?

.512 valve lift w/1.7's is .480 w/1.6's which is the what the E & B cams were speced with from Ford. Can't remember which one is .480 & which is .498...
Anyway, with either cam & 1.7's that thing SHOULD feel good. Also, 1.7's increase duration at a given lift compared to 1.6's....something most don't realize.

trust me! its sounds awesome!!!!!!!!! hella thumps!!! my whole car goes with the thump..and it still idles at 700rmp PERFECT!

i have a b cam in my car its sounds mild, but i also run mufflers that makes my car really quiet at idle.

my car does seem kinda quite at idle..but lumpy as hell!! im running mac headers, bbk o/r hpipe and 1 chamber dumped and its not that loud at idle...but when i get on it...holy shit!!!!! cover ur ears! all u hear is that cam thumping! and its deeeep

Damn Matt with a cam 1.7 rockers and an edelbrock manifold it looks like you are good to go. Maybe some gears and traction and you can run a low 13???
He does have stock e7 castings though, so with 1.7 rockers and a b cam wouldnt there be some piston to valve clearence?

Have you had this car smogged yet? Justs curious... Man, the last thing anyone would want is to be labeled a gross polluter. That would be a bummer...

well norgy, if it passed and you didnt fuck with the F/P or anything its more than likely a smog legal cam, (E303), a b303 wont pass, i have had buddys who tried. its prob just an ecam and with your exhaust sounds throaty, my buddy has ecam and h with flows and it sounds great, so you prob got that

ya but when i smogged...i BARELY passed...like 1 more point higher and i would ahve failed. now..i can notice more of an exhaust smell now that the cam is actually working since i fixed my rockers. there is no way in hell i will pass smog now. looks like the 100 $ smog is the direction i must go

hey jared....my heads bolt is not a stock bolt so i bet there was some major inter work done to the engine. u should drive it sometime soon. there is a HUGE horsepower difference now that everything is fixed. u would definately be impressed. the only problem is that if my car is at idle too long...like more than 5 min. it starts to almost die..so i have to pump the gas to keep it going...i dont know y it does that...its only sometimes

1 point or not norgs, i dont think you have a diff cam in there, anything could fuck up your smog, check your 02 sensors?? f cam def wont pass, and b neither unless you fuck with it alot, but even thenn....

Dont get me wrong the e cam has a lopey idle. Had you ever heard 5.8L 2B's car the 95 gt. It has an e cam and its pretty lopey.

The B cam can & does pass smog on a good running motor. Both E & B have 0 overlap @.050 lift. FMS states it'll pass, but does not carry a CARB #.
It's a B if it speced out at .512 w/the 1.7's.

Good shit Matt sounds liek you have a b cam in there that revs above 5500rpms, with that and your edelbrock manifold and 1.7 rockers all you need now is a decent set of heads.

My fms catalog, and summit says it wont pass, i have had friends with the b303 cam try to pass and not, but if you know how to do it let me know, cause ill run one

Install the cam on a 116 intake centerline & use the STOCK H-pipe for smog. An aftermarket 'high flow' version will make it more difficult to pass due to the increased scavanging effect.
There are better cams out there for your cobra.

i think i know how to pass it on smog. Im gonna take $100 out of my bank account. go to this one guy...give him my money and vin number...and walk away with my car "smogged"
