its that time. i need to rebuild my 5.0. i just don't know where to get started. i was looking at summits rebuild kits. they seem pretty well priced. i could go hypereutectic, which gives me a 9.08:1 cr. of, they have forged, but that brings it up to 10.13:1. i don't think i could get away with this with cast iron heads without going to a higher octane gas. also, i need to know of a place that does good machine work, at a decent price. this would be a basic cleanup of the engine block, and maybe some assembly. also, what else would be considered "mandatory" for a rebuild with an 148,000 mile motor? maybe new injectors? i need all the help i can get. right now, im just collecting info. trying to map out a plan of attack.
thanks for all the help -kevin

I would buy the motorsport (aka explorer) GT-40P longblock for $1400 and call it even. Rebuilding sucks.

those stock GT-40P heads with a cobra type intake would let you shoot for 12.5s instead
12.9s are good too we need slow cars here too
