How can you tell when your car is running rich and how do you go about fixing that!? Sorry if this is a retarded question but I won't know if I don't ask.

To my knowledge usually a sign of running rich would be black smoke out of the tailpipes when your on the throotle. Running rich isnt so bad as running lean. To find out exactly how rich/lean you are running I think you would have to get the car put on a dyno with a computer hooked up. But thats just what I think. Maybe someone else can give a better response.

take out one of your spark plugs, if it's really really black then smell it, if it smells like gas then you're running rich, if it doesnt then it's probably oil all over the plug. if it's white then it's lean and if it's like a goldish brown then it's running okay.

Wide Band O2 sensor. You can buyone , build one , or go to a chassis dyno that has one already.
To fix it, you have to chip it or Tweecer it or EEC-Tuner it .
