I'm looking to buy either a newer GT or a 96-98 Cobra. The thing is with the cobra, is that I'm having a hard time finding a quality cobra with 50K miles or less. I looked at 2 so far at a dealership, the 97's motor blew when shifting to second on out test drive and the 96 was overheating and ticking. I want faster, but I'm not willing to sacrifice the reliability. So what is your guys advice?????
What mods can I do to the GT to get it into the low to mid 13's???? Will 4:10 gears, cold-air, and x-pipe get me there????

See sig. As far as 4.10s or 3.73s go and freeway driving. Theres roughly a 300rpm difference between the 2. I also do a lot of freeway driving, Vacaville to San Jose you will turn about 3k at 80mph. But if your gonna do some sort of power adder then go with 3.73s if you stay NA 4.10s are it. [ November 12, 2002, 08:34 AM: Message edited by: bunchmyfunky ]

Matters what you want. I thought those cars were comparable, but there not. If you want to run 12's N/A, I would go with the cobra. You can do it with gears, drag radials, pulleys, and some tunning. A 99 or newer gt will take a little more. I persoanlly like the newer bodystyle, but iof that does not bother you get the cobra. Also look into the insurance aspect. I know the cobra runs a little more. So are you coming on sunday or what?

Go with the 01' GT. They look a lot better with the hood and the smoked headlamps. You can make it sound just like the older ones and not so high pitched like the new GTs, just add Mac mufflers and 3" tips. Mine sounded just like a 5.0 with flos. Check mine out, you can do this and a lot more. My car

If you want to run mid 13's get 4.10 gears, x-pipe fo the high end torque, cold air intake, and shorty headers. That should get you there. I ran a 14.1 without the gears and headers, but that was at 99.7. I should be at 13.8 or 13.9 with 99.7MPH. If you really want a cobra, it WILL take u a while to find one that is perfect for you. I looked for one for 3 months and gave up. All of them had a big flaw. Good luck though if you decide the cobra.

If your really looking for speed I love those cobra motors but as far as looks go I would go with the 99+, im a little biased towards Foxs and the new bodies, but if all your looking for is 13's I would go with a triple black 99 GT, with gears, most likely 3:73, exhaust, pullies, cold air and the like and that should be nothin. Jus my oppinion...
