Sounds a lot like the motor in the 5.OL BMW M5.
I don't like how Ford is using the 5.O name and legacy which brought back the Mustang to the performance field as a method to push the mod motor platform. [ November 06, 2002, 11:12 PM: Message edited by: st5150 ]

11:1 isnt high for all alum. Porsche runs 11.1 in the all alloy Boxter motor. With the thermal dissipation of alum alloy the effect comp. is closer to 10:1.
I just got back from Sema... they had a old F150 truck concept, completely rebuilt, redesigned, etc etc...part of Fords 100 year anniversary deal.. in it was this new 5.0L motor. The motor is definately a go according to the folks there, its just the final power #'s and $$ that is not determined.

its thier name, they can do whatever they want.
I still say they haven't figured it out yet, big displacement, really efficient heads and a tiny cam, to make 430 hp, leave about 100 hp to be gained with a cam swap and bolt-ons.
