ur gonna have to take off the drive shaft...drain the tranny...then pry off the only seal..clean the area where the seal was...with the new seal..but i think gasket sealer or something like that on the new seal..slide the new one on...wait for it all to dry...put the shaft back in..put new fluid in...and it should work...thats how i did mine. i think im thinking of the same seal as u

To replace the rear main if thats what you talking about seal is not that hard but it is time consuming, yo ugot to drop the traney, clutch, when you finally get to the seal its wanna of those spring loaded seal hard to get out and not to easy ti get in. You also will have to drop the oil pan to get to that seal. goddluck. [ October 17, 2002, 09:17 AM: Message edited by: gR40coupe ]

I did my rear main seal when I did my clutch. with the bell, flywheel, clutch and tranny out of the way (lol quick job not!), I poked it with a screwdriver and got it out. Tapping it back in with the old rear main seal was pretty easy because I didn't damage it on removal.
great time to do the pilot bearing too.
also, make sure you're oil leak isn't valve covers or your oil pan or near your PCV valve because the rear main seal is easily the most time consuming seal to get to in your car.
