have this happen to anyone?
when my car is off the fuel gauge is reading right.
but when i start my car...the needle goes past the full line and stay there even though im driving around useing up gas.
any help would help....thanks
also its a 89 notchback-5spd

Years ago, I used to drive a 1991 Ford Escort Lx. The very same thing happened to me as you have described. The needle guage was on the full line all the time. There is a computer chip device inside the fuel tank or perhaps outside the tank. A plastic ball is on the end of the stick acting as a floater that tells the guage where ther fuel level is at. That thing went bad and needed to be replaced right away. It's likely burnt' out. Get it fixed. Again, it's the fuel tank floater. Good luck!
