I have found no magical liquid or paste that "removes" scratches.

I know how to remove such things.
It's difficult, takes time (2 days) & lots of patience.
You'll need FORD touch-up paint. 600/1000/1500 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Toothpics, or a book of matches. Fine-cut polish (I like Meguiars), wax, pencils, & a hole punch.
First prep the area by washing it thoroughly with Dawn. Let it dry. Punch holes in the sandpaper & glue the holes on the erasers of the pencils. Using the 600 grit, carefully sand off all rough edges from the scratch. Cut the end of a match to a point, or use a toothpick & carefully fill the scratch with touchup paint. A very fine brush with just a few hairs will also work....but the brush that comes with the paint is usually too large. Do not try to fill it in one coat. It may take several. Let dry 4-6 hours between coats. Continue till the scratch is slightly raised above the surrounding paint. Let dry overnight. Wet the sandpaper & use the 600 grit (on the pencil eraser) to level the scratch to the surrounding paint. Then use the 1000 & 1500 grits to smooth the scratch. Use the fine-cut polish (Meguiars fine-cut cleaner) to polish the area. Fine-cut cleaner will get rid of all 1500 grit scratch marks. You may need to use a few coats. By this point the scratch should not be visible unless looking very closely. Follow up by waxing the entire area.
If done wrong you can seriously damage the paint....

93Pony - Doesn't sound too hard, but the "If done wrong you can seriously damage the paint" part is what scares me.
Do body shops do this kind of work? Ballpark how much can I expect to pay?

Touch-up paint and Langka... that will fix you right up. Click here to go to the Langka site - the stuff is really the shit for taking out scratches & chips (and it's pretty idiotproof too, even I didn't fuck it up). [ September 27, 2002, 10:42 PM: Message edited by: sn8k ]

Did this stuff actually work? Is it worth the money?

I work ar Losta Pasta, and own the yellow 5.0 that usually parks in front of the old Country Waffles. Im coming home this weekend back to the danville area. Can you give me a ride then? Does the 03 have 1k miles yet? Last time I asked your wife to she wouldnt cause only like 300 miles on it at that time. Let me know, i really want a ride in both your Cobras. And so does my gf.
