I didn't want to butt in on 99gt post. I was curious though if any knows the spec's on the stock cam of a 89 LX 5.0 or knows how I can get them. Duration, lobe seperation, lift.

Also how easy is it to swap out a cam. do you have the pull the whole engine or can you just remove all the crap up front including radiator. Thanks

The stock cam is a hydraulic roller. The Intake & Exhaust lift is .444. The Exhaust duration is 276 @ .006 degrees, & Intake duration is 266 @ .006 degrees. The lobe seperation is 116. These are exact #'s, and you can quote me on em'. Good luck [Big Grin]

Not easy at all dogg......if you're doing it alone, it'll be some work. Alot of stripping down.
Here's what street_illegal_stang said earlier on cams:
"yo, the stock cam is pretty good for the stock heads..leave it.
1. to much work for a very lil'gain
2.you'll need bigger valve covers or modify the stock ones.
3.only thing you'll gain is a cam sound ans a rough idle..
performs a lil better than stock but not worth the money..invest on some bolt ons.

personally i would get a cam unless i got evry thing at once.heads, intake, cam, timing chain, push rods,fuel+ignition...etc.all at once...i'm gonna save up for the systemax race kit by holley..
i wanna do 11's".

Definitely don't change the cam, unless you are changing the heads. You should also get your heads, and then determine the cam. Don't build a motor around the cam, build the motor around the heads.
