Anyone here good with diagnosing a tranny problem? I recently installed a used (was said to be in great shape) AOD into my 92 LX. Tranny was shifting ok, nothing great (hard shifts, but sometimes late). I flushed all the lines (for the second time), put new fluid in, changed the filter...and now all I have is 1st gear. No shifts and feels like it is in neutral above 3,500 rpms. Any ideas??? ![[Confused]](confused.gif)

Sounds like your tranny has been through a lot of abuse if it doesnt even shift out of first gear. Sound like the tranny is all burned up. Instead of trying to fix it I would get e new or another used one.

When the tranny was (flushed) it took away some particles that were holding some things together. When a tranny is old and did not have the fluids changed regularly, it is better to not change the fluid after a 100k miles or so. Often times it will loosen some things that can kill it now, rather than in a few months (or even years).

I think you're right, there must have been alot of grit in there...and that's all that was saving it. The fella I bought it from said it was rebuilt with less than 8,000 miles on it. Any and all other parts I've gotten from him have been great...Oh well..
I guess this is the final straw w/ AOD's..I never seem to have good luck. I wanted to keep it an Auto (the Mrs' car)..but the WC T-5 that's been in my storage forever now has a new home...On that note, anyone have T-5 stuff layin' around? I need a bell housing, clutch fork and a shifter!! ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)
