Topic: DAMN!! Car still won't start.

OK, I have tried to swap the cable from the starter and nothing. I have tried a new starter and a new starter selinoied and still nothing. All i hear is that clicking noise. This shit is getting me Pissed ![[Mad]](mad.gif) I have no idea on what it could be. Any help or ideas from anyone in here would be appreciated. Thanx. JR

Nawww. I know it didnt freez cause i can push start it and it starts right up. Its somthing electrical. Any info??? Pleas guys, I've been without her for a good 2 weeks now and im getting really tiertd of driving the bucket around.

Damn Bro. Sorry to hear you still haven't got your car running. After I changed the battery and cables she will start every time now. Still isn't running right though. Now she will barely idle at a stop. I have to put her in N and give it some R's. I am putting my car in the shop to have the exhaust welded and I am hoping I am just loosing so much air through my exhaust leak thats why it is causing it to act the way it is. However I know something that small won't cause it to act the way it is.
Have you tried replacing that little round thing your positive battery is connected to. Just an idea. Hope you get it running soon. I was a total asshole without my car.

I had something similiar happen to my 94. What it ending up being was a bad ground strap. If you run the positive and negative from the battery directly to the starter, does it turn over?
If so, try replacing the block to frame ground strap.
After replacing my starter, battery and being without my car for two weeks it ended up being a $5 part from kragens...

I'm going to try and reground all the ground cabels. I'f worst comes to worst i'm gonna have to take her to a shop. ![[Frown]](frown.gif) This rellay sucks. I'm gonna be sooooo pissed if it's somthing so simple. But Fuck it. Shit happens. Thanx guys. JR

Battery is like 1-2 months old. I'f it was the ignition mouduale would it still make that clicking noise coming from the starter selinoied??

if you have longtubes you may have overheated the starter.try replacing it. this happened on one of my old cars.

I had the exact same problem after I did a motorswap. I'm in Fremont, work in Santa Clara and could probably point the problem out in 5 seconds.
It's your engine ground or your battery ground.
Battery ground GOES TO THE BLOCK.
Engine ground GOES TO THE CHASSIS.

edit: oh and the battery ground has two grounds, the main one (big one) goes to the timing cover through a bolt. file it off and get a good solid connection. the secondary ground on the battery goes up near the starter solenoid kinda on a little bolt that goes through sheetmetal and is a weak little ground and will never support the 300-400 amp draw of a starter motor.
The motor needs a shitload of grounds to the chassis. The biggies go through the motor mounts, and another goes through a bellhousing bolt off the wiring harness in the back, and yet another comes off the wiring harness to the firewall.
I'm sure others here know this as well. Grounds=good

Well. I relocated the battery to the runk and the ground cabel wasnt long enough to go to the frame so i just grounded it out to the Car. I took off the paint so it could get a good connection. But the car was running fine for a good month and a half with that ground.

Could even be your ignition switch. They can be persnickity little bitches. Also take out your battery and jump it to your starter. If it works its in your wiring to the trunk, check ground.

dude the easist way to check for the ground problem is get some jumper cables and hook neg.(black)to the neg. post on the batt. and the other end to something metal on the motor like the alt. bracket or something solid.then try to crank it. damm my bad batt. in trunk well ground the cable to the frame or any solid metal part of the car . this should solve ur ground problem.

So, If i try and hok up the Neg. Jumper cabel to the frame would it still help me to see if there is a grounding problem??? Thanx for the replys guys. JR. ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif)
