Hi boys, My name is Erica and I want to start fixing up my car some more. Mike (HALLZ) talked me into asking you guys what I should to so that I didn’t waste my money on things that don’t work. I want my car to be the pimp shit and be faster than it is. I have raced some guys in the older mustangs and a lot of the newer camaros but they have beaten me and I can’t have that! I have a 2001 GT with the Mac cold air, three chamber Flow masters and a shifter, plus a few other things that my old boyfriend put on the car put I don’t know what they are? I am trying to decide about pulleys or 410 gears? I also have bought the stuff to lower my car and was wondering if it is going to start spinning the tires more like the camaros do. I would like my car to be at least as fast as mikes car and maybe faster (he he). I think he said I would have to make it do low low 13 or mid to high 12 second ¼ mile times. I don’t think it should be as hard as he makes it sound. I hope to get meet some of you soon when I don’t have to work. Thanks for your help.

the 4.10 gears will give you better acceleration so i would go with the gears before u get the pulleys, the gears would give you the bigger difference in acceleration.

You NEED 4.10 gears if you're staying NA. If you're gonna go with forced induction, then stay away from gears for now. If you really don't want to lose on the street, then I would do:
Bassani X-pipe Steeda Pulleys 3.73 gears 75 shot of Nitrous Custom Chip Drag Radials.
If you just want to fuck around and throw on BS parts, then do so, I did for awhile and got nowhere! A power adder is really the only way to go on our cubicly challenged engines. If you need any help, let me know.

if you want to spin your tires more get 4.10 gears. they will also help you accelerate much better. When you get those though, your speedometer will be off and you will have to get a Speedcal box or a chip made. I would also recommend the x pipe and Mass air flow meter. Pullies are a waste in my opinion unless you like your car getting hot and your amps fluctuating. Plus if you ever get a supercharger you will have to take the pullies off anyways.

Pulley's arent a waste, it's all subjective..I've had pulley's on all 4 of my stangs, and with NO problems. I felt a nice SOTP gain from them too. I wouldnt recommend pulleys over all other mods, but of the bolt ons, i'd say it goes: Gears then Xpipe, then pulleys in terms of what yields the greatest gains.

Thanks for the input guys, It looks like we are going to put in the 4:10's in in a few months, But The Idea is not for her to break the tires loose at all (as little as possibe) What I was wondering is what is the biggest inprovement suspention wise to get the thing to "hook" The car is sitting on a pro kit, so what will have to be done to keep the car planted? Upper/lower's controle arms have been orderd along with offroad X-pipe and She will be getting new 555RII all the way around.
As fro the pullies, from what I have seen they realy help the throttle responce. Is this a false observation or just that they worked well on a few select cars?
What about computer tunning? Is there a good place localy that know what they are doing?
By the way she is not ready for N20 yet. One step at a time!! Mike [ August 21, 2002, 11:58 PM: Message edited by: HALLZ ]
