K, so I'm washing my car and notice some wet spots on the garage floor. Now, this time I can definitely tell its oil. Once again i have hella of a hard time getting under my car to see where the oil is linking from and found some oil spots on the fuel tank !! i don't really know where its all coming from but it is all over my rear axle, pipes and fuel tank and some other stuff I can't name. I am so worried right now! I hope I did not blow anything yesterday while racing! do u have any ideas what it could be? Suggestions? what's the worst that it could possible be? Please let me now!
thank you

i change the oil right on 5k miles almost three months ago..now i have 5650 miles. everything from the oil compartment seems to be fine. the engine seems clean and did not detect any oil near the transmition or engine.
ps: do u think i should change the oil every 3 months or just wait for 3k miles? i'll probably put 3k miles in 6 or seven months.

isn't 5k miles a little early to be running synthetic? that stuff blows out every seal on most motors. I'd switch back to petroleum for an oil change or two and see if it clears up.
since it's under warranty, have them check it out. I wouldn't tell them you're running synthetic.

i actually changed the oil at 1.5k miles then 5k ..i am not using synthetic oil. i am using whatever the handbook says to use(can't remember right now) theres no leaking from my oil pan.
THRESIXES <<--thats what my friend said yesterday, we'll try lifting the car up today to see where its leaking from. if it is leaking gear oil from the pinion seal, how do u fix that?? is it easy, and cheap to do? any major problems if i continue to drive like this??

Whenever something goes wrong always check the last thing that ypu did to your car and simce your last mod was your 4.10's in the rear you might want to have that checked out.
They might not have sealed the cover up well enough with silicone.

If its the rear pinion seal on your differential, I dont think it will be a big deal. Its probably like a $10.00 seal, and maybe a crush sleeve? I think you just have to take out the drive shaft and theres one nut to impact off, but I'd take it back to the people that did your gears. They may do it for free.

This might sound stupid....but recheck the oil filter and make sure it is tight, or the seal is not broken, or even double sealed....worth a try

oh man ... i am so depressed i'll call the shop that put the gears in tomorrow and make an appointment. I think the warranty is already voided since i lowered and change the gears of my stang, so i'll have to pay out of my pocket . that just sucks casue i am so broke right now. i just checked the car right now..and there's no oil around the oil filter and a few drops coming from somewhere in the middle of the rear wheels. thanks for all your advice... my stang will be out of service for while!

If you have drips under the rear wheels, and oil all over the fuel tank, there is probably a good chance the gear shop that put in your 4.10's didnt seal it up right, I think they would probably have changed the pinion seal and the diff cover seal on that kind of rear end during the gear swap. Gear oil smells really nasty in comparison to motor oil, wipe some of the stuff off the floor or the rear end, give it a smell, if it doesnt smell like motor oil it's probably the rear end.
