In the process of building up the wife's '86 coupe with some basic bolt ons. I have heard mixed comments on wheather or not 1.7 rockers will work with stock bottom end. Has anyone done it or know of anyone that has? Appreciate all input.

in the new issue of 5.0 mustang magazine they showed how to install a set of 1.7 roller rockers on a stock 87 mustang, i would assume it would be the same for an 86

i had a friend put them on his 86 and they worked fine, then he put in a e 303 498/498 220/220 there were no problems with that either.you will only have problems if you put aftermarket heads on.

Thanks for the help guys. My only concern was the flat top pistons that came in the '86s. I'm going to put em on tomorrow

what's the expression? measure twice and cut once?
Odds are, you will have plenty of clearance. But if that were my motor I would turn it over by hand a few times with a piston clayed just to be sure.
you only get to be wrong once
