Ok, I will be installing a Novi 2000 (with the help of a friend) in about 10 days. I have some questions:
I run a large (Afco) alum radiator w/ 16" Derale elec fan. will this fit? Right now it clears about 3/4" from the water pump pulley bolts.
I am replacing my intake, TB and injectors at this time. Should I seal the lower manifold gaskets differently due to the blower?
My car is an 89LX, AOD ,TFS, cam, exhaust etc... I will be keeping the stock pulley for now. The kit is new & should be complete
I'm sure I will have more questions in the future, also if anyone is VERY familiar with blower installs, I would appreciate a # or E-mail address for future use.
Thanks, & wish us luck!! Shaun warlockwestwind@yahoo.com

Yea, I have been reading lots of posts about the installs, but I'm just going to take my time. And hopefully get it right the first time.

I've done a novi 2000 install but i dont know which kit you have, the one i'm familiar with is the renegade race kit (sits on the driver side). I'm almost positive that the belts for the sc wont fit with only 3/4" clearance from the water pump pulley bolts. You still need room to fit an 8 rib belt (about 1" wide) plus about a 1/4" on either side of the belt. So I'd guess unless you have about an inch and a half clearance, then it won't fit. Also it was VERY VERY VERY easy to install, the trick is not to tighten down any bolts until every bolt is treaded in. With the kit I saw NONE of the parts were labeled but it had a part list with part #s so I put every part in a plastic bag and labeled it so I knew what was what (about 50+ parts in all).

What are my options here? Going back to a stock fan & shroud set-up? My kit is a standard kit. I don't have the part #. It will be here in 5 days, I just want the install to go as smooth as possible!
Thanks for your suggestions...

Putting on the stock clutch fan is probably a good idea. Electrics don't move as much air as the stock fan does, and with the blower, you want your cooling system working at its peak.

ya what he said, i have a novi 2000 on my coupe, i notice the car would run hotter with the blower but not much. i think the stock fan cool the car better than a electric fan. but not realy sure depending on what electric fan you got. i ran a 150 shot of nos in my car, the car is alot faster with the blower.don't forget 2 dyno your car and let me know how much hp and torque ya get.

Yea, I will be getting the tuning done by Byron, he tuned me the first time @ 270 rwhp. OK, I ditched my old fan and shroud, so I will neet to get another, anyone know of a cheap place to get one? I MAY not need it, but I would like to have one available JIC. Hey Sic, will the kit clear the stock shroud? Lastly, I run 4.10's also on an AOD, & was going to go back to 3.73. How does your set-up with the 4.10's run?
I will be at the track this Friday & Sat, are you going to be up there?
Thanks again, Shaun

I had to cut the shroud about 1/2 inch toward the radiator and about 2 inches down so one of the pullies from the kit would fit.(preaty easy)My tranny is stock (t5)and so is my cam, i bearly finish the 1/4 at 6000rpm in 4th gear, im pushing the motor to the limit. if i put a cam and slicks i should get a little extra rpm to play with.I am going to the track on saturday, but not sure if im going to take my car, it still runs like crap it surges and hesitates whem i give it gas. ever since i swap motors its been giving me trouble. i should c u on sat, so you could ask me more questions...

Not at idle which is when you really NEED a fan.
Shaun, Look for an 67 primer black mustang with a cowl on saturday, it has the crank pulley on it if you want to see how much farther it sticks out than the water pump, however you can't use the motor to radiator clearance in that car as a reference to yours since they're completely different.
