Whats mods do you guys think I should go for next
on my wifes 01 auto GT. As of now she has an k/n
drop in filter/2 chamber delta flows/cut outs(for
track)/1.5 bbk drop kit. The cars best time to date is 14.34 at 97.9. The 60' was 2.18 on the
stock goodyears. I was thinking about a chip and
some pulleys next. What do you guys think? I was
thinking also about the gears but dont want to
lose the gas mileage cause its her daily driver.
The goal for the car is 13.99!

I would highly suggest changing the gears if you are looking for a bit more. Not a big fan of "chips" unless the car has some pretty significant modifications, but to each thier own. The gears will be by far the best bang for the buck. With an auto, the gears will be a great addition to the car the should make it easily 13.99's. I could be wrong, but I think the car may have just a bit more in in than a 14.3, but still very respectable. Pullies are always a nice addition and give the car a bit more kick as well. Consider going with some 3.55s or even better 3.73's and you will not regret it. The gas mileage will not be affected all that much either, some yes.....but not that much. Pullies and gears, I can honestly say it will be 13.99's or lower.

i say gears, pullies, and some drag radials
and if you want abetter sixty feet a stall converter that should get you well in the 13's

as far a chip I say no way not worth the cash

you can buy a speed adjuster from huston performance i think they are like 100-200 bucks

or you could just add a 100 shot of NOS that will get you where you want to go and not be to much for your engine [Big Grin]

Well it sounds like pullies and gears are the way
to go for what I want. Does anyone know if you
need a custom chip for the 3.73's with a auto???

The only thing you should get, but technically don't need would be a speedo adjuster. I think they are called abbot boxes or something. Concider making a post about speedo adjusters for your car, I know some people on here have em. Stay away from the chip, you will regret spending the cash. Good luck with your desicion, and have fun.

Thanks Jack, Whats funny is that my wife is the one that wants the 13's so bad. She is tired of
having the car that looks good but isnt all that
fast. I love watching her race at Sac and she is
pretty good at it as well. Thanks for all the info
guys. Anymore info on the speedo deal would be great.

with gears on a auto you need a chip to correct the speedo 5sp you can get the speedcal but it won't work on auto forget about the t/a cuz if you install the gears you will need a chip the chip advances the timing

WHAT? ADVANCES THE TIMING? What are you talking about. Yeah, a chip CAN alter timing slightly, depending on make and model, but what does timing have to do with gears and speedometers? Maybe I couldn't understand where you were going with that one because of that nice run on sentance, but I'm lost at this point. And what do you mean by forget about the t/a? Hmmmmmmm......

do you guys know anything about the 4.6 mod engines well i do cuz i have one maybe it's different on you 5.0 guys but were talking about the 4.6 here i'll say it again with a 5sp you can buy a speedcallibrator cost like 150$ that will fix your speedo for gears if you have a auto then the only way to fix the speedo when installing gears is a chip a timing adjuster is useless for auto who have gears have some knowledge before you speak

Ok bro....maybe you need to get the fucking knowlege. I am a mechanic for a huge dealership. I work on 4.6 mod cars alot, and more than just one. So again, let me ask you.....what the hell are you talking about timing adjuster. You are probably correct about the 5-speed, and auto trannies....that I do not quesion.....but do you have any idea about timing? At all? Timing has absolutely nothing to do with a speedometer. Do you not understand that? Ok, maybe we are simply miscommunicating, but think about what you are saying. Maybe the guy needs a chip to re-adjust his speedo.....but in no way shape or form does he have any need for a timing adjuster. Maybe YOU should "have some knowledge before you speak".....or take some professional mech. training like I did...it might help a bit.

your the stupid idiot who says what's a t/a anyway just goes to show you how much you know about cars i wouldn't let you put one hand on my car you started being a jerk so im gonna fire right back 99ujstlst quoted you can buy a timing adjuster from houston perf for like 100-200 z ya said will i need a chip for my 3.73 gears i said yes or his speedo will be all out of line if you use a chip and t/a its useless the cars stock timing is 10 so i said yes if z ya plans on gears then the chip will be the only way to correct listen this time therefore a timing adjuster would be a hood ornament if installed because a chip will fix speedo and advance timing so you get it now god damn i think you should stick to your 5.0 knowledge i'll admit it i don't know shit about 5.0's but when it comes to 4.6 i know a lot
