I have decided that I want to switch my gears to the 3.73's..And im basically in the dark with the whole thing. I know i can't put them on myself, without the proper tools and knowledge. I also am aware that Tracy doesn't have any mechanics that know how to put them on correctly..Anyone in my area (livermore, pleasanton, stockton, modesto, etc..) that can put them on for me? Also would they adjust my speedometer for me, or will i have to get an adjustment kit online to fix it? Don't really feel like driving around and guessing my real speed.. All that and if there are any recommended companies for the gears? [ June 10, 2002, 09:38 AM: Message edited by: TruBlueGT02 ]

To get the Speedo accurate I'd go for Speedcal from Dallas Mustang $99 + shipping.

"R Mustangs" in SF 415-641-7669 They rebuild trak lok units as well...and stand by their parts if you need to bring it back. I'm not sure if they only work on old Mustangs, you can call and ask.
Moser sells gears as well as Summit. They say to watch out for Richmonds, they squeal real bad.

sounds like a plan.. Im going to wait until i get my grad money to see when im actually going to do this..but this seems like a much cheaper upgrade then doing my whole suspension. I'll feel the performance too..
Anyway, if there are any closer shops.. let me know, 'cause im going to call these places and check out summit pretty soon..would like to know if there are some closer places i could also check out.

well to get a chip is like 300 bucks I would only get it if you have s/c or NOS in the car or if you plan on getting this things in the feature if not then I would just get Speedcal from Dallas Mustang and take it to rear specialist to do the gears
for the chip go to www.racesystem.com and email byron

I still think the Speedcal product is the best option for you. If you look at Dallas Mustangs website, it looks fairly easy to fit. It gives you plenty of options should you ever change gears again.
If you need help fitting it, I am sure I can help you out there. Gear install is way out of my D.I.Y abilities.

If you go Ford Motorsport gears, and get a Ford Dealer to install them, then I think you would be OK.
If you get a local shop to put non-Ford branded gears then you might have warranty issues in the future, but only with rear diff/axle related warranty claims. The chances are slim that a problem will develop.
