Manufactures say that burning more than 1qt of oil every 1000 miles is not normal. Anything up to that point is.... ALL engines burn some oil.

As for synthetics.... You can switch back, but why?
An honest 5hp can be gained from full synthetics. Castrol Syntec is NOT a full synthetic.
Do some research on the following:
Mobile 1 (just changed formulas....)
Redline
Amsoil
Top 3 not in that order. After Mobile switched formulas, I switched to Amsoil.. Until Mobile's new formula proves itself, I'm not getting any.

All the major brands carry a line of synthetics. It's really preference. Just don't waste your money on imposters like Castrol.

Stick with factory recomendations. 5w-30 or whatever it is for your car.
GM Syncromesh can go in the tranny. That stuff works excelent! Prolongs tranny life.
You can also do synthetic oil in the rear end, but I wouldn't do it untill gears are installed.

There's a thread over on Stangnet in the SVT forum about synthetic oil....some good info & links you may want to check out.

50/50 colant mixture is fine (or anything close for that matter [Wink] )....are you having cooling issues? If not, leave it alone....
