96 cobra. just added a paxton novi 2000. having problems with plugs i believe, please help. i started with NGK TR6s(copper) @ .032 gap. the car had power only too 6200rpm. local mustang shop said the spark was being blown out. set gap @.025. car then pulled hard too 7000+, but the car feels down on power at low rpms. changed too NGK iridiums @.035(which shop said to do). car is now backing off @5200. this is where i'm at now. what kind of plugs and what gap is the best on a supercharged cobra? would a MSD ignition help? thanks for any help.

you can correct it w/ the MSD or w/ more powerful coil packs... the coil packs are cheeper and easier to install then the MSD...you might as well so some bigger plug wires while your at it..let up know how it works out

i would stick w/ the wires you have..back in 98 when i did the blower in my cora i had the same problem as you..the DIS 4 solved it all..after that i was able to bring the gap way up..

From the timing post:
If changing coil packs and MSD don't work, you might want to try what I reccomended for timing. If the spark does not arrive at the correct moment, the engine is out of time. If this ignition timing is only slightly off, the engine may run with less efficiency. A crank sensor determines the proper timing of the coil-packs, which fire the spark. The timing adjuster allows you to relocate the crank sensor and adjust its relative orientation to the crank to improve spark timing. For a Supercharged Cobra, start with 9 and then subtract 1° for every 2 psi of boost (example for 8 psi: 9°-4=5°).
P.S. Again, try the Steeda 4.6 adjuster which starts in stock location of 10 and has capacity to retard and advance 10 degrees.
Hope this helps,
David

i have a timing adjuster already. i played with it alot(advanced timing and retarded it). nothing helped the missing at high end. i did just get back from my first test run with my new MSD Dis 4. this is a nice piece. it seemed to clear everything up 100%. i even had the spark plugs gapped at .040 compared to .035 that i had problems with. like i said the dis 4 is a nice piece, i recomend it alot. it has a 2step built in, you can adjust timing retard for each 1000rpms. it does alot of cool things, and wasn't that bad to install. thanks for your guy's help.

hey Gabriel, did you play with timing retard function? i was thinking of setting the timing adjuster at, maybe 14', and then setting the timing retard to take out 2' for every 1000rpms. does this work? do you or anyone else have any experience with this?

I only played w/ the retard function when my car was detonating.. you "could" set your timing adjuster for 14 the dial it back some at the high RPM'S. What that would do is give you a little more bottom end(torque).. Now doing this is risky and will probably detonate so be VERY CAREFUL...I would start pulling out timing at 3500rpm, well under peak TQ
